Homeopathy is all the rage now. According to the World Health Organization, Homeopathy is the second largest system of medicine followed and is widely accepted all over the world and has been so, for more than 200 years. Specifically, to the UAE, Homeopathy was legally regulated in 2002 with an initial test batch of practitioners. From this humble start, Homeopathy now has a place in most medical centers in the UAE. Dr Rozina Baig Zaheer, Homeopathic practitioner at Zia medical centre, and the Convenor for the Remedium 4.0 says, “UAE is a home to diversities, cultures, beliefs and traditions where people have their perspective towards a lifestyle they adopt and the same applies when it comes to acceptance of a specific Health care system as well”.
With a storied history in the UAE, it’s no wonder that the fourth International Homeopathy Conference will be held at Swissotel Al Murooj, Dubai, on November 20th, 2022. Dr Alphonse Dsouza, President of IHMA UAE and the Conference Chairman says, “The purpose of hosting this international conference in the UAE is to firstly, celebrate the successful journey of two decades of Homeopathy in the UAE. We chose UAE because it’s growing as a hub in Healthcare and has acquired a prominent place in the healthcare map over the years. It’s very important for us healthcare workers & providers to come together to promote the healthcare system we practice as a part of this revolution in the medical field.”

The Speakers for the Conference are renowned Homeopathic practitioners Dr. Saptarshi Banerjee from Kolkata and Prof. Dr. Mansoor Ali from Kozhikode, Kerala who would be highlighting the scope of Homeopathy in Dermatology. Homeopathy’s popularity and acceptance have been driven by the fact that it treats the root problems, is cost-effective, available Over-The-Counter, and can be used alongside allopathy or traditional medicines without many side effects.
Dr Rashni Vijeth, homeopathic practitioner at Ayurmana Center, and an active member in the organising committee IHMA-UAE, says that ever since the Ministry of Health and Prevention approved the practice of Homeopathy in the UAE, Homeopathy has not only grown popular among South Asians alone but also amongst the Emiratis and Arab expats. However, Homeopathy still comes with scepticism when it comes to its acceptance among the masses and is overshadowed by its myths and realities. Despite this, it is a science whose scope has been undermined, yet it has been evolving and strengthening its roots as a popular choice.

Breast cancer event in Dubai aims to conquer with Guinness record

Hundreds of UAE residents from all walks of life, including breast cancer survivors, will come together in Dubai on Saturday, October 29 in a Guinness world record attempt to create the largest ribbon ever made of bicycles.

Being held under the theme ‘pedal to fight’, the opening act of the two-day Breast Cancer Awareness event ‘We Conquer’ – organized by Orbit Events and Dubai Silicon Oasis – will be followed by a fun 10km community bicycle ride the next morning. The ride, a part of the 30×30 Dubai Fitness Challenge and open to everyone, will begin at Dubai Silicon Oasis headquarters and end at Dubai Digital Park.

“I am privileged to be part of this beautiful initiative that celebrates the fight of survivors and gives hope to the ones affected by breast cancer. No one is alone in the battle against cancer, you have an army of warriors, survivors, and people behind you” said Eman Thani, a professional Super Sport class cyclist.

“As organizers of this mega event, our aim is not just to fight breast cancer as one but also tap into the collective passion of the community in Dubai to drive action and impact,” said Pragna Vaya, MD of Orbit Events that’s also organising a ‘Pink Festival’ after the ride in the evening.

There will be a Pink Festival to celebrate the ‘army of warriors’ fighting for the breast cancer cause.

The second day of post-ride activities at Dubai Digital Park will see a panel discussion, zumba sessions, inspiring survivor stories, music, and art. The setting will also feature flea markets, engaging activities, and food from retailers for attendees to indulge in.

For attendees, there will also be free mobile breast cancer screening and breast health consultation provided by the event’s mission partners Friends of Cancer Patients and The Pink Caravan.

“The more voices that join this conversation, the bigger impact we can make about prioritizing breast health and screenings for women across the country,” said fashion designer Ivlin George Obyet, also the Owner of Brand Evoshka, who would be curating a unique pink fashion show with models and cancer survivors at the event.

The initiative is being held in partnership with Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai Digital Park; with support from Dubai Police and Dubai Sports Council as strategic partners. Prominent brands like QNet Ltd, Al Rawabi, Fakeeh University Hospital, Fitness First, Ferns n Petals, Tips and Toes etc. have also joined in to support the cause.

“We are delighted by the enthusiasm we have received from our partners, who amplify our message and rally the communities to join our mission to create a breast cancer-free world,” added Pragna who called the initiative a reminder that “cancer cannot conquer our spirit and that we can beat this together”.

About the event

October is the Breast Cancer Awareness month when communities across UAE are geared to show up in pink – the universal color of hope in solidarity to lend their efforts, voices, and hearts to a cause that continues to affect the lives of many people. One in eight women, according to latest studies, are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes but early detection and accurate diagnosis remain the key to increasing survival rates by 95%. While awareness has always been a priority, it has become critical with much work that still needs to be done, say those involved.

The ‘We Conquer’ awareness event is open to the public from 4pm to 9pm on October 30. Registration for the Guinness Attempt and Bike Ride can be done at here.

Placido Domingo returns to Dubai Opera as headline act for Dresden Ball’s UAE debut

The Dresden Opera Ball, which will be hosted by Dubai Opera in 2022, will bring together internationally renowned performers to share their cultural legacies with the varied population of the UAE.

Taking place on November 15, the gala and awards feature performances by Placido Domingo (tenor), Marina Rebeka (soprano), hosts of the evening Riz Khan and Oksana Fedorova, the European Peace Chamber Orchestra Dresden, Anton Lubchenko (conductor), Igor Butman (saxophone), Roman Lyulkin (bass) and more.

The first Dresden Opera Ball in Dubai will take place five years after the “king of opera,” Placido Domingo, wowed the audience at the Dubai Opera’s grand opening in 2016.

As part of the program, debutant couples will also put on a choreographed dance show. As they have done in high society throughout European history, these couples will captivate the audience. Ladies in spectacular gowns and gentlemen in stylish tuxedos will take over the stage in an extraordinary dance exhibition in a three-four-time signature.

The glamorous event is presented by M Premiere and the Opernball Dresden, the largest classical entertainment event in the German-speaking world that made its debut in 2006 in the German city of Dresden.

The Dubai Dresden Opera Ball follows the recent gala event at the beautiful Catherine Palace in St Petersburg, Russia and now, it is arriving in the UAE.

Dubai’s convening power creates the natural platform for an event which seeks to connect cultural and artistic icons from the European and Arab worlds.
