Salman Khan leaves for IIFA battling emotions for KK

Salman Khan has expressed his condolences for the departed singer KK on Twitter before leaving for Abu Dhabi for the IIFA Awards. The actor along with Nora Fatehi and others were seen at the Mumbai airport for a late evening flight to the UAE capital.

Expressing his grief for the singer, who passed away due to cardiac arrest in Kolkata on Tuesday night, the actor wrote:

Krishnakumar Kunnath, of KK, got his first big break with Tadap Tadap Ke in the 1999 Salman Khan-starrer Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which was also launched music director Ismail Darbar in a big way. KK’s body arrived in Mumbai for the last rites to be performed on Thursday even as Salman had to leave for Abu Dhabi where there will be a press conference in the afternoon.

Ismail Darbar had an in an interview last year revealed the strange circumstances in which the song materialised and, in fact, was the Eureka moment for the director Sanjay Leela Bansali to banish his uncertainty of months and go ahead with the film.

KK, against his discomfort, even dubbed some dialogues for Salman Khan in that iconic film.
The song also hits a raw nerve with both the director and Salman Khan himself. In fact, many years back Darbar spilled the beans while judging at a reality singing show SaReGaMaPa where Salman appeared as a guest jury member.

When a young girl contestant set out to sing the song she was told that Salman runs away when the song is played. Just when she became nervous, Darbar revealed the details but also assuaged the girl asking her to sing that day, but he also said “he will make it a point that this song is not sung again before Salman.”

Salman will be hosting the IIFA awards that are scheduled to be held at the Etihad Arena at Yas Island on June 3 and 4. The first of the two-day event will be for the music and technical categories of awards. KK will be remembered again.

Nora Fatehi also took the late flight as Salman Khan. Singers Tanishk Bagchi, Asees Kaur and Zahrah S Khan along with organiser Farah Khan and presenter Aparshakti Khurana arrived in Abu Dhabi in the day.

Incidentally, Salman Khan’s security has been increased following the murder of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is believed to be behind the killing along with accomplice Goldy Brar, had threatened to kill Khan in 2018.
