As the UAE celebrates Labour Day on May 1, the country reaffirms its deep appreciation and respect for the millions of workers who contribute to its growth and prosperity.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, extended heartfelt congratulations to the UAE’s diverse labour force. He hailed workers as the cornerstone of the nation’s sustainable development and essential partners in shaping the UAE’s ambitious economic and development goals.
A Nation Built by a Diverse Workforce
He highlighted that Labour Day reflects the UAE’s commitment to humanity and inclusivity —values that unite workers from over 200 nationalities across the country.
He reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a positive and safe work environment, backed by initiatives that promote social protection, job satisfaction, and career growth for both Emirati and international talent.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, in collaboration with public and private sector partners, is organising nationwide Labour Day celebrations. These include:
- Gift distributions at workplaces, labour accommodations, shopping malls, and hospitals

- Engagement events to promote community spirit and social inclusion
100% Health Insurance Coverage Achieved for Workers
A major milestone in 2025 is the integration of health insurance coverage for private sector employees and domestic workers in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. This move ensures that 100% of the UAE’s workforce now has access to health insurance.
UAE’s Vision: A Competitive, Worker-Friendly Labour Market
The UAE’s Vision 2031 includes building a flexible, competitive labour market. The Ministry has launched initiatives to attract and retain top talent while maintaining robust governance and balanced labour laws that protect both employers and employees.
One key example is the Emirates Labour Market Award, which recognises innovation and dedication in the workforce, motivating workers and boosting their morale.
