As the Holy Month of Ramadan began on Saturday, UAE leaders received congratulatory messages from the kings, emirs, and presidents of Arab and Islamic nations on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his best wishes to all observing the Holy Month, emphasizing the values of mercy, blessings, and generosity. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also extended his warmest greetings to the people of the UAE and Arab and Islamic nations, highlighting Ramadan as a season of giving, compassion, and unity, along with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, received similar messages from Arab and Muslim leaders.
Mosque Preparations for Ramadan
The Sheikh Khalifa Grand Mosque in Al Ain City has completed preparations to welcome worshippers during Ramadan. Specialised teams have maintained the mosque’s facilities and systems, ensuring a comfortable environment for prayer. The mosque plans to provide over 10,000 Iftar meals throughout the month.
Similarly, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah is also ready to receive worshippers. Teams have verified security and safety standards and maintained essential systems like elevators, fire protection, sound, and air conditioning. To facilitate smooth entry and safety for attendees, specific gates have been designated for worshippers and visitors during prayer times.
Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation’s Initiatives
The Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has launched its Ramadan Programme for residents in the UAE and abroad, which will continue throughout the Holy Month.
The Programme includes initiatives such as Ramadan Mir, UAE Iftar, International Iftar, Fast-Breaking, distribution of Ramadan Baskets and Purchase Vouchers to eligible individuals, and Eid Al Fitr Clothing.
Community Engagement and Cultural Practices
During Ramadan, the UAE government organises Iftar Projects for people of diverse nationalities, cultures, and social backgrounds around shared Iftar tables. Volunteers set up tables in front of mosques or open spaces across the country, fostering a sense of community and unity.
In Dubai, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department hosts Quran recitation events in mosques, including lectures, religious lessons, and Quran memorisation contests such as the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.
The UAE’s commitment to community welfare and cultural preservation during Ramadan reflects its dedication to fostering unity, compassion, and spiritual growth among its residents and visitors.
