The Sharjah Police have launched a new awareness campaign titled ‘Cross Safely’, aimed at promoting road safety and encouraging both drivers and pedestrians to comply with traffic laws.
The campaign focuses on two key areas:
- Educating motorists on the importance of making a full stop at zebra crossings.
- Urging pedestrians to follow traffic signals and cross safely at designated areas.
Promoting a culture of safety
Colonel Omar Bu Ghanem, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, said the initiative is part of a wider series of annual awareness campaigns designed to improve traffic safety, reduce accidents and injuries, and strengthen community engagement.
“The launch is based on analysis of field indicators, and it aims to instil a culture of respect for traffic rules among all road users, especially about crossing behaviour,” he said.
A shared responsibility
Sharjah Police are urging everyone in the community to support the campaign by adopting safe practices on the road. Authorities emphasised that traffic safety is a shared responsibility and plays a critical role in saving lives and creating a safer environment for all.
The campaign comes amid ongoing efforts by the emirate to reduce pedestrian-related incidents and enforce stricter compliance with road safety standards.
