Dubai is strengthening its commitment to mental healthcare with new standards designed to revolutionise the way patients receive treatment. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has rolled out a series of reforms aimed at ensuring top-tier mental health services across the emirate.
The fresh rules bring doctors, psychologists, and nurses together in a united front to deliver the best care possible. Patients can expect a more joined-up approach, with experts working side by side to provide cutting-edge treatment tailored to individual needs.
And it doesn’t stop there – digital health is going big. The DHA is pushing teletherapy and online consultations, making it easier than ever to access top-quality psychological support from anywhere, all while keeping patient privacy locked down.
Dr Younis Kazim, Acting CEO of the DHA’s Health Regulation Sector, says this move proves Dubai is serious about mental health. “We’re committed to delivering safe, world-class mental healthcare that keeps up with the latest global trends,” he said.
But it’s not just about patients – mental health professionals are getting a boost too. The DHA is backing innovation, offering high-level training, and raising the bar for specialists, ensuring the emirate remains at the forefront of mental health care.
The new rules were developed alongside top global organisations, including Health Standards Organisation/Accreditation Canada, ensuring they meet international gold standards while respecting Dubai’s own privacy needs.
The plan is built on rock-solid research, following guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychological Association (APA). The DHA is also tightening licensing rules, making sure only the best-qualified professionals handle mental health cases.
Crucially, the new approach caters to everyone – from children and teens to the elderly, with a strong focus on creating a safe, supportive space for those seeking help.
Training for mental health pros is also getting a serious upgrade, with advanced workshops and specialist courses designed to keep Dubai at the cutting edge of mental healthcare.
