UAE-India travel alert: Flights may face delay, cancellation due to Pakistan airspace ban

Published

on

Passengers flying between the UAE and India are advised to check with their airlines for possible delays or cancellations, as Pakistan has closed its airspace to all Indian airlines. The restriction, which took effect on Thursday, April 24, has disrupted several international routes, including those connecting India to the Gulf countries, Europe, and North America.

The closure of Pakistani airspace has forced major Indian carriers like Air India and IndiGo to reroute several international flights. Flights to destinations in North America, Europe, the UK, and the Middle East are now taking longer routes, leading to increased flight durations and operational costs. For instance, flights from Delhi to Europe are experiencing delays of up to an hour, while routes to Gulf countries are seeing extensions of 30 to 45 minutes.

Air India has issued a statement expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and emphasised that the safety of customers and crew remains its top priority. IndiGo has also acknowledged the disruptions, noting that some flights have been cancelled or rescheduled to comply with night curfews at certain airports.

Duration of Airspace Closure

According to reports, the closure of Pakistani airspace to Indian airlines is set to last for a month, ending on May 24, at 5:30 am (Indian time). Passengers planning international travel during this period are advised to check with their respective airlines for updates on flight schedules and potential delays

Ras Al Khaimah’s new city bus route to cut journey time and ease traffic congestion

Published

on

Ras Al Khaimah has launched a new city bus route, the Orange Route, to enhance public transportation and improve connectivity across the city. The new route aims to connect all urban areas to the city centre, offering a more efficient and timely travel option for residents and visitors.

The Orange Route extends from the Al Nakheel area, passing through the main city, all the way to the main bus depot in South Al Dhait. Adding this route will cut interval times between buses, meaning passengers will experience shorter wait times for buses, ultimately reducing the overall journey duration.

The route, which takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes one way, will serve eight key stops along the way: Al Nakheel, Julphar Towers, Al Sadaf Roundabout, Driving School, Post Office, Clock Roundabout, Flamingo Beach, and finally, Al Dhait bus station.

This new bus service is designed to make it easier for commuters to travel across Ras Al Khaimah, with faster access to important locations such as shopping centres, business hubs, and residential areas. It is also expected to ease traffic congestion by offering an efficient alternative to private car use, especially for those commuting within the city.

With growing demand for public transportation in Ras Al Khaimah, the launch of the Orange Route is part of a broader effort to expand and modernise the city’s public transport system. Authorities are also looking at introducing more routes in the future, aiming to provide even greater coverage across the emirate.

The new route is expected to be a game-changer for both residents and tourists, offering a reliable, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation option.
