Published

Spread the love

Dubai is expanding its push for cleaner urban deliveries, with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) rolling out an e-bike delivery service across 11 authorised locations in the emirate.

Designed for short-distance trips, the service aims to reduce dependence on conventional delivery vehicles while making last-mile deliveries more efficient and improving connections within busy communities and commercial areas.

The expansion follows a successful trial and adds seven more locations to the service.

Where the e-bike service is available

The newly authorised locations include:

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard
  • Dubai Media City
  • Al Twar 1
  • Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT)
  • Al Twar 2
  • Al Qusais 1
  • Dubai Marina

Faster, greener last-mile deliveries

The e-bike service gives delivery riders an alternative for shorter journeys, particularly in areas where larger vehicles can be less practical.

By supporting first- and last-mile connectivity, the initiative is intended to help riders move between delivery points more efficiently while easing reliance on conventional vehicles for short trips.

The rollout is part of Dubai’s broader drive to promote sustainable transport and smarter urban mobility. Expanding e-bike deliveries is expected to support a more efficient delivery network while contributing to the emirate’s longer-term environmental and mobility objectives.

UAE traffic alert: How drivers can get 4 black points removed for penalties for traffic offences

Published

Spread the love

Starting August 17, UAE motorists can begin registering for the Ministry of Interior’s annual Day Without Accidents campaign, which gives eligible drivers a chance to have four black points removed from their driving records.

The road-safety initiative will be held on August 31, the first day of the new school year, when traffic is expected to increase around schools and residential areas.

How to register

Drivers can register through a link shared on the Ministry of Interior’s official social media account, @MOIUAE.

They must scan the QR code on the campaign’s Instagram post and sign in using UAE Pass. Participants must agree to the campaign’s safety commitments, sign the pledge and comply with its terms and conditions.

Once registered, motorists will receive a participation certificate by email at the address linked to their UAE Pass.

How to remove black points

To have four black points cancelled from their records, drivers are expected to:

  • Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • Give way to pedestrians.
  • Wear seat belts.
  • Follow posted speed limits.
  • Avoid mobile-phone use and other distractions while driving.
  • Give priority to emergency vehicles.
  • Stay within designated lanes.
  • Ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting out.

What are black points?

Black points are penalties recorded against a driver’s licence for certain traffic violations. Depending on the offence, motorists can receive between four and 24 black points.

Reaching 24 points can lead to further legal action, including the possible confiscation or suspension of a driving licence.

Several offences carry four black points under UAE traffic regulations, including using a handheld mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seat belt, driving against traffic, sudden swerving, dangerous reversing, failing to maintain a safe distance, driving with expired registration or licence, and using a vehicle with expired tyres.

Thinking of buying cheap car insurance on social media? Here’s what Dubai Police advise

Published

on

Spread the love

Drivers in the UAE are being warned about a growing online scam involving fake car insurance offers advertised through social media.

Dubai Police has urged motorists to be particularly cautious of insurance deals promoted at unusually low prices, warning that such offers could be designed to trick people into handing over money or sensitive personal information.

Fraudsters may use social media advertisements and fake accounts to make their offers appear genuine, creating the impression that drivers are dealing with a legitimate insurer or authorised insurance broker.

How the fake insurance scam works

The scam typically starts with an attractive insurance offer that appears significantly cheaper than normal market rates.

Drivers looking for a cheaper policy may be directed to communicate with the advertiser or make a payment before receiving legitimate documentation.

In some cases, scammers may also attempt to obtain sensitive information such as identification documents, vehicle registration details or banking information.

Dubai Police is urging motorists not to let a low price override basic checks.

Warning signs drivers should look out for

Several red flags indicate an insurance offer is fraudulent.

Extremely cheap premiums

A price that is dramatically below what other insurers are offering should immediately raise suspicion.

Scammers often use unusually low prices to create a sense of urgency and persuade potential victims to act before checking the provider.

Fake social media accounts

Fraudsters can use social media profiles, advertisements and sponsored posts to impersonate established insurance companies or authorised brokers.

A professional-looking profile or advertisement does not necessarily mean the seller is legitimate.

Requests for immediate payment

Drivers should be wary if an advertiser asks them to transfer money quickly or provide financial information before the policy and company have been independently verified.

How to check if a car insurance offer is genuine

Dubai Police recommends taking precautions before making any payment or sharing personal information.

Verify the insurance provider.

Deal only with officially licensed insurance companies or authorised brokers operating in the UAE.

Check the offer independently.

Instead of relying on links or contact details supplied through a social media advertisement, contact the insurance company through its official website or verified customer-service channels.

Protect your personal and financial information.

Do not provide identification documents, vehicle registration details, bank card information or other sensitive data until the provider has been confirmed as legitimate.

Don’t let a cheap deal become an expensive mistake

A heavily discounted insurance offer may look tempting, particularly when motorists are trying to reduce their annual vehicle expenses.

But if an offer appears too good to be true, drivers should pause and verify it before paying.

A few minutes spent checking an insurer’s credentials could help prevent financial loss and the misuse of personal information.

Dubai Police’s latest warning forms part of wider efforts to raise awareness of online fraud and encourage residents to be more cautious when dealing with unsolicited offers on social media.
