Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a smart digital platform that uses artificial intelligence to monitor and analyse traffic across the emirate in real time.
The “Data Drive – Clear Guide” system combines five years of historical traffic data with live information to track vehicle flow, identify congestion hotspots, monitor road speeds, and detect recurring patterns. The goal is to help authorities respond faster to traffic issues, ease congestion, and enhance overall road safety.
Officials say the platform can send instant alerts on traffic movement, allowing RTA teams to take immediate action when problems arise. It can also analyse traffic performance over specific periods, compare current conditions with historical trends, and measure the impact of road diversions or events.
Previously, such assessments depended on manually collected reports, which could take weeks to compile. With the new system, this analysis can be carried out in minutes.
The platform also features automated report generation, enabling RTA to evaluate road works, monitor the effectiveness of projects, and plan future infrastructure improvements more efficiently.
The launch is part of Dubai’s wider strategy to harness AI and smart technologies for digital transformation, with the aim of becoming the world’s smartest city and a global leader in innovation and sustainability.
