There will be no increase in tuition fees in Dubai’s private schools for the next academic year, thanks to the directive of The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
The emirate’s education regulator made the announcement on Tuesday. It comes following the release of the latest Education Cost Index (ECI).
Annual changes in school running costs, including rents, salaries and utilities, are measured by the ECI.
As per the study, the KHDA found no reason to spike the tuition fees for 2022-23.
The fees for Dubai schools have not been changed for three consecutive years.
The government departments, such as the Dubai Statistics Centre, Department of Economic Development and Dubai Chamber of Commerce, collaborated in creating the ECI and the Fee Framework.
Since February 2021, enrolment at Dubai’s private schools has gone up by 5.8 per cent.
The total number of private schools in Dubai is 215, with over 20 new schools having been opened in the emirate in the past three years.
More than four in 10 parents of students at private schools in Dubai pay less than Dh18,000 ($4,900) in annual fees, a report published by the KHDA in November said.
Only nine per cent of parents pay more than Dh75,000, while 22 per cent pay between Dh18,000 and Dh35,000, the KHDA data suggests.
