Abu Dhabi motorists will face longer evening toll hours and no daily or monthly usage caps on Darb gates starting September 1, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced.
From next month, evening toll charges will begin at 3pm instead of the current 5pm, ending at 7pm. Morning toll timings remain unchanged at 7am to 9am. The AED 4 charge will apply each time a vehicle passes through a Darb toll gate during these hours.
Tolls will continue to apply from Monday to Saturday, with Sundays and official public holidays remaining free of charge.
In a significant policy shift, the ITC will scrap the existing daily cap of Dh6 and monthly limits, Dh200 for the first private vehicle, Dh150 for the second, and Dh100 for any additional vehicles.
Exemptions will remain for eligible groups, including People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees.
The ITC said the changes are aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion across Abu Dhabi’s main roads during peak hours.
