The UAE is currently experiencing a spell of unstable weather as an active low-pressure system moves across the country, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds and a noticeable drop in temperatures.
Heavy rain was reported early this morning in Fujairah’s coastal areas, significantly reducing visibility. Showers were also seen in parts of Dubai and across the East Coast, with areas such as Masafi and Kalba affected by rainfall ranging from moderate to heavy.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), these unsettled conditions are expected to continue until Friday.
Cold snap hits mountain areas
Temperatures have dropped sharply nationwide, with the lowest reading of 9.9°C recorded on Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 6.30am. Mountain regions are expected to feel even colder in the coming days, accompanied by chilly winds and dusty conditions in some areas.
Rough seas and strong winds
The weather system is also stirring up rough sea conditions. Southeasterly winds are blowing at speeds of up to 45km/h, pushing wave heights in the Arabian Gulf to around 7 feet. These conditions are expected to last until 1pm on Tuesday.
Weather alerts issued
The NCM has issued orange and yellow alerts for parts of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, urging residents to remain cautious, particularly near coastal areas.

With rain, dust and reduced visibility affecting roads, the NCM has reminded drivers to follow safety guidelines:
