The Hero Dubai Desert Classic isn’t just about world-class golf anymore; it’s about shaping a greener future.

In partnership with Deloitte, the tournament has launched the Green Incubator Challenge, a first-of-its-kind global call for ideas that could transform how sports and entertainment events tackle climate change.

The challenge is open to entrepreneurs, start-ups, students, and companies worldwide. Organisers say they’re looking for both fresh concepts and ready-to-deploy solutions that can make events more sustainable.

And here’s the big prize: the winning idea will be rolled out at the 2027 DP World Tour and Rolex Series tournament — giving it a global platform.

To help participants succeed, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic team and Deloitte will provide expert mentoring, guidance, and evaluation, ensuring that the solutions are not only bold but also practical and scalable.

“Through this challenge, we aim to identify visionary ideas that will shape the future of sustainable events globally,” said Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director of Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

The initiative is also part of the DP World Tour’s Green Drive programme, which is committed to achieving net-zero carbon by 2040.

This is a vital alert for all residents and visitors: Dubai Police has issued a major warning about fraudulent links and third-party sites selling fake tickets and VIP packs ahead of the Global Village reopening this week.

Here is what you need to know to stay safe and ensure you have a “WoW” experience, not a wallet disaster:

THE SCAM AND THE WARNING

Dubai Police stresses that every year, scammers exploit the high demand for the Global Village season opening by spreading deceptive links across social media platforms. These links trick victims into revealing personal information and stealing their money by offering attractive, but fake, VIP packages.

  • The Threat: Fraudulent links lure victims with attractive prices for VIP packs, leading to the theft of money and personal information.
  • The Cause: Scammers capitalise on the massive annual excitement and demand for the popular attraction.

How To Buy Tickets Safely

To protect yourself and ensure you get legitimate tickets for the milestone Season 30 (which starts on Wednesday, October 15, for Season 29 according to the text), stick to the official, verified channels:

  1. VIP Packs: Must be purchased exclusively via the Coca-Cola Arena’s ticketing site.
  2. Standard Tickets: Available only via the official Global Village website and the official mobile app (available in October).
  3. Special Offers: Note that Global Village is offering free entry for the first 10 days (check the official site for terms).

What’s New For Season 30?

Once you have your official tickets, get ready for a packed season! Last season saw over 10.5 million visitors, making this attraction one of the world’s most popular.

This year’s offerings include:

  • Culture: Pavilions celebrating more than 29 different cultures and nationalities.
  • Fun: The Carnaval zone features 170 rides and games.
  • Unique Attractions: Includes Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! and the Snowfest Ice Rink.

Your Action Plan: Stay Vigilant

Dubai Police urges the public to remain highly vigilant. If you see a suspicious offer:

  • Avoid: Do not click on misleading offers from unknown links.
  • Report: Report any suspicious activity immediately via the e-Crime platform or by calling 901.

As Gitex Global 2025 opens in Dubai on Monday, October 13, Parkin has activated its Major Events Parking tariff (Code X) to manage heavy traffic around the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

The decision aims to ensure a smoother experience for visitors attending the world’s largest tech and startup showcase, which runs until October 17.

Parking around DWTC will cost Dh25 per hour during the event.

Parkin has urged visitors to use public transport and plan trips through the RTA’s Shail app. Commuters should ensure their nol cards have enough balance, at least Dh15 for Silver class and Dh30 for Gold class, for a round trip.

This year’s Gitex, spread across DWTC and Dubai Harbour, features more than 6,500 exhibitors and 1,800 startups from over 180 countries, spotlighting how AI, quantum computing, and sustainable tech are reshaping global industries.

Gitex Global 2025 runs from October 13 to 17 in Dubai.
