Dubai Police have impounded 28 vehicles during recent inspection campaigns targeting drivers with multiple unpaid traffic fines and overdue registrations.
The crackdown, led by the General Department of Traffic, aims to enhance road safety and reduce reckless driving. Many seized vehicles had tens of thousands of dirhams in unpaid fines, with some registrations expired for years.
Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, director of the department, warned that vehicles with unpaid fines exceeding AED 6,000 can be impounded under Decree No. 29 of 2015, with zero tolerance for repeat offenders.
Motorists are encouraged to settle fines promptly via the Dubai Police app, which provides flexible payment options to prevent additional penalties.
Colonel Abdullah Rashid from the Violations Monitoring Department highlighted that advanced technology is being used to track non-compliant vehicles both on roads and in public parking areas.
He stressed that the campaign is not only about enforcement, but also about raising awareness and promoting safer driving behaviour across the city.
