The Northern Warriors registered a confident six-wicket victory over the Deccan Gladiators in the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 on Friday, successfully chasing 88 with 10 balls to spare to move back into contention after a slow start to their campaign.

Batting first, the Gladiators were rocked early as Trent Boult removed Nicholas Pooran and David Wiese off consecutive deliveries in the opening over. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (58 off 31) anchored the innings with a composed half-century, striking seven boundaries and two sixes, but regular wickets at the other end stalled progress.

Marcus Stoinis threatened to build a partnership before Boult pulled off a sharp one-handed catch off Shahid Bhutta, halting momentum. The Gladiators closed on 87/7, with Kohler-Cadmore launching two late sixes before falling in the final over.

In reply, the Warriors made a dominant start through Johnson Charles, whose 41 off 17 balls—featuring four fours and three sixes- powered them to 43/0 in two overs. Noor Ahmad dismissed Charles, and Muhammad Jawadullah’s double-strike removed Hazratullah Zazai and Shimron Hetmyer to tighten the contest at 60/3.

Although Noor Ahmad bowled Dinesh Chandimal soon after, the modest target remained within reach, and Thisara Perera and Azmatullah Omarzai guided the Warriors home, with Omarzai finishing the chase in 8.2 overs.

Amir four-for headlines Qavalry’s strong comeback after Bulls’ blistering start

In the day’s second match, a late bowling surge led by Mohammad Amir sparked a dramatic turnaround as Quetta Qavalry restricted the UAE Bulls to 109 after an explosive powerplay start.

The Bulls lost Tom Moores early, but Phil Salt (31 off 15) counter-attacked, striking four boundaries and a six to accelerate the innings to 26/1 after two overs. Rovman Powell (23 off 14) continued the charge alongside Tim David (31 off 11), lifting the Bulls to 93/3 after seven overs and setting up a platform for a large total.

But Amir flipped the contest, dismissing Kieron Pollard, Tim David and Iftikhar Ahmed in a pivotal spell to complete a four-wicket haul. At the same time, Khuzaima Tanveer added two run-outs and a bowled dismissal to shut down scoring at the death.

Despite early momentum, the Bulls managed just 16 runs from the final three overs, ending at 109 all out, leaving the match finely poised for the chase to follow.

Rio Ferdinand may be done with UK living, for now.

The former Manchester United star, 47, has listed his seven-bedroom Kent mansion for £10.5 million (Dh52 million), hinting his move to Dubai is permanent.

Set in the exclusive Farnborough Park estate, the 12,500 sq ft home features landscaped grounds, a private gym, grand reception spaces, and a luxury master suite with dual dressing rooms. He bought it in 2008 for around £2.7 million, meaning a potential £8 million profit, though tax could apply depending on residency status.

Ferdinand moved to Dubai last year with his wife Kate and their children. They are now living in a luxury villa in Al Barari.

He has been candid about the move, citing more family time, an improved lifestyle, and the appeal of a fresh start. “The lifestyle, safety and weather, it just works for us,” Ferdinand said in the report.

He’s not alone. Vincent Kompany is also reportedly selling his UK home, as more football names rethink where they’re based.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted motorists to expected traffic delays on key roads on Wednesday, April 22, due to the AFC Champions League 2 match taking place at Al Wasl Club.

The fixture between Qatar’s Al Ahli and Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia is part of the ongoing AFC Champions League 2, Asia’s second-tier continental competition, which has been drawing strong crowds across the region. Matches at this stage of the tournament typically attract large numbers of fans, especially when hosted in major cities like Dubai, leading to increased traffic around stadium zones.

Authorities expect congestion on roads leading to and around the stadium, particularly during pre-match and post-match hours, as supporters head to watch the game live.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys, allow extra travel time, and consider alternative routes to avoid delays.

To help ease congestion, the RTA confirmed that additional parking spaces will be available behind the stadium, offering more options for those attending the match.

The advisory is part of ongoing efforts to manage traffic during major sporting events and ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for residents and visitors across Dubai.
