Dubai Police have warned motorists against driving while severely fatigued or suffering from medical conditions such as blood sugar imbalances, high blood pressure or psychological issues, stressing that even mild symptoms can turn deadly behind the wheel.
The warning follows a crash on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, where a driver lost consciousness, veered off the road and slammed into a concrete barrier. Two people were injured and taken to the hospital.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said many drivers underestimate early warning signs, despite the serious risks they pose while driving.
“Losing consciousness while driving is among the most dangerous causes of major accidents, as control can be lost within seconds,” he said.
He urged motorists, especially those with chronic health conditions and those who drive long hours, to undergo regular medical check-ups, take frequent breaks and stop driving immediately if they feel unwell.
