Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a large-scale campaign to improve trailer safety across the emirate, targeting heavy vehicles on major roads during the first quarter of 2025.
As part of the initiative, the RTA’s Licensing Activities Monitoring Department conducted more than 2,600 inspections at key locations, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. The aim is to ensure that trailers and semi-trailers meet essential safety and technical standards.
During the campaign, 177 trailers were examined for tyre condition, brake performance, lighting, and valid registration. Inspectors found 134 technical faults and issued 88 violations, which included unfit tyres, faulty lights, missing reflective stickers, and unsafe loading.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the campaign is part of a wider annual safety strategy that combines inspections with public education. He urged vehicle operators to carry out regular maintenance and strictly follow safety rules to help protect all road users.
