UAE weather alert: Temperatures could hit 46°c as dust sweeps parts of the country

The UAE is expected to experience fair but dusty weather this week, with strong winds, rough sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and temperatures reaching up to 46°C.

Residents across the UAE can expect a week of generally fair weather, but strong winds and dusty conditions are likely to impact several parts of the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Forecasters say fresh winds will continue to sweep across the UAE over the coming days, stirring dust and sand in open areas and occasionally reducing visibility. Meanwhile, sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are expected to become increasingly rough as the week progresses.

The NCM said current weather patterns are being influenced by weak surface pressure systems combined with an extension of an upper-air high-pressure system, creating stable but windy conditions across the country.

Temperatures are set to remain high, particularly in inland areas where daytime highs could climb between 42°C and 46°C. Coastal and island regions are expected to record temperatures ranging from 35°C to 40°C, while mountainous areas are forecast to see highs between 32°C and 39°C.

Wind speeds are also expected to increase at times, with south-westerly to north-westerly winds reaching up to 40 km/h along coastal areas and as much as 35 km/h inland and across mountainous regions.

While conditions are expected to remain mostly clear and sunny, blowing dust and sand may affect outdoor activities, especially in exposed areas. Residents, motorists and outdoor workers are advised to take necessary precautions during periods of stronger winds.

Marine conditions are also likely to deteriorate during the week. The Arabian Gulf is forecast to remain slight to moderate initially before becoming moderate to rough from Wednesday, with rough seas expected by Friday. In contrast, the Oman Sea is expected to remain relatively calmer.

The latest forecast signals a typical early summer weather pattern for the UAE, marked by soaring temperatures, dry conditions and periodic dust activity driven by seasonal winds.

Authorities continue to advise residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours and monitor official weather updates, particularly those planning marine activities in the Arabian Gulf.

The UAE is set for another spell of intense summer heat, with temperatures expected to reach 48°C in some inland areas on Tuesday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

While most parts of the country will experience fair to partly cloudy skies, meteorologists say convective clouds could develop over eastern regions later in the day, bringing a chance of isolated rainfall as well as humid conditions.

Tuesday’s forecast

The NCM expects:

  • Maximum temperatures between 43°C and 48°C in inland areas.
  • Coastal and island temperatures ranging from 38°C to 42°C.
  • Mountain areas recording highs of 32°C to 37°C.

Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds are forecast, with speeds of 10 to 25km/h, occasionally increasing to 35km/h.

Humidity is expected to rise overnight and into Wednesday morning, particularly across some western coastal areas.

Sea conditions will remain slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea, with offshore waters potentially becoming rough by Wednesday morning.

What to expect for the rest of the week

Wednesday

Temperatures are expected to climb further, making Wednesday one of the hottest days of the week.

Forecasters also expect:

  • Convective clouds over eastern and southern areas.
  • A chance of localised rainfall.
  • Winds strengthening to 40km/h in some areas.
  • Blowing dust reducing visibility in exposed locations.

Thursday

Hot weather will continue, with another chance of convective cloud formation and isolated showers over eastern and southern parts of the country.

Light to moderate winds may freshen at times, lifting dust in open areas.

Friday

Fair to partly cloudy skies are forecast across the UAE.

Clouds may continue to develop over eastern and southern regions, although temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.

Winds will ease slightly, with gusts reaching 35km/h, while sea conditions remain slight to moderate.

Saturday

The weather pattern is expected to continue into the weekend with fair to partly cloudy skies.

Humidity is likely to increase overnight and into Sunday morning, particularly along coastal areas, where mist may form in some locations.

Hot weather advice

With temperatures nearing 48°C, residents are advised to:

  • Stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
  • Wear lightweight clothing and use sun protection.
  • Exercise caution while driving in areas affected by dust or reduced visibility.
  • Monitor weather updates if travelling to eastern or mountainous regions where isolated showers may develop.

The hot and humid conditions are expected to persist through the week, with only a slight chance of rainfall confined mainly to eastern and southern parts of the UAE.

Spread the love

The UAE is entering the Jamrat Al Qayd season, the second phase of summer known for intense heat, dry conditions and hot winds.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), temperatures are expected to reach 47°C in inland areas over the coming days, while stronger winds from the weekend could trigger blowing dust in exposed areas.

Why is it getting hotter?

Jamrat Al Qayd, which begins in early July, marks one of the hottest periods of the year in the UAE. The season is characterised by:

  • Temperatures reaching up to 47°C inland
  • Hot, dry weather with low humidity away from the coast
  • Warm winds that can reduce visibility by lifting dust and sand
  • Very limited chances of rainfall

What is the forecast for the next few days?

Thursday

  • Generally fair weather.
  • Low clouds over the east coast.
  • Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, reaching 35 km/h.
  • Inland temperatures between 41°C and 47°C.
  • Coastal temperatures ranging from 37°C to 42°C.

Friday and Saturday

  • Mostly sunny conditions continue.
  • Temperatures rise further, especially inland.
  • Winds shift between northwesterly and southeasterly, reaching 30 km/h.

Sunday and Monday

  • Winds strengthen to 40 km/h, creating blowing dust in open areas.
  • Mostly fair weather with occasional clouds over eastern regions.
  • Seas remain slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

Is it safe to visit the beach?

Yes. Despite the high temperatures, sea conditions are expected to remain calm, with light to moderate winds and slight waves in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, making early morning and evening beach visits more comfortable.

However, residents are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated and take precautions against heat exposure. Mountain areas are expected to remain cooler, with temperatures between 31°C and 37°C.

As the UAE moves deeper into its peak summer season, residents can expect hotter days, warm nights and occasional dusty conditions over the coming weeks.
