Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), taking another step in the space sector, has announced to launch the Space Ventures initiative.
The project is a launchpad for start-ups in the space sector from the region and around the world.
According to a statement, issued by MBRSC, the Space Venture was launched to materialise S, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s vision of building highly productive economy based on innovation, research, science, and technology.
The MBRSC’s initiative aims to inspire innovation and create a new market for space related companies in the UAE and other regions.
MBRSC Director-General Yousuf Hamad AlShaibani said that the country’s space sector is expanding its ventures to create new economic markets based on self-sustaining space ecosystem. To achieve this goal, it is important to make partnerships with striving companies, which work on emerging trends of the space sector, including communications, data storage, IoT, satellite manufacture and launch, robotics, space hardware and software, he added.
AlShaibani said that the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre’s ambitions for space research and development have attracted the attention of the world.
The MBRSC’s latest initiative is supported by the ICT Fund of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority.
Founded in 2006, the MBRSC has launched the DubaiSat-1, DubaiSat-2 and the KhalifaSat. The space centre has also launched the Emirates Mars Mission Hope Probe, which reached the Martian orbit in February.
