Coca-Cola to buy BodyArmor for $5.6bn

Published

on

Coca-Cola Co, the world’s largest beverage company, is reportedly purchasing BodyArmor, an American sports drink, for $5.6 billion.

The deal, which is expected to be announced as soon as Monday, would value the sports drink brand at about $8 billion, sources said.

Coca-Cola already owns 30 percent of BodyArmor and now it is buying the remaining 70 percent shares.

American basketball star Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in early 2020, had invested $6 million in BodyArmor. The buyout would give Bryant’s estate about $400 million.

BodyArmor’s sales are expected to touch $1.4 billion this year.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced the ‘Takamul Permit’ — a groundbreaking new initiative that is aimed at integrating luxury car services with the car rental industry. Whether you’re a resident, tourist, or businessman, Dubai is making it easier than ever to experience its luxurious lifestyle.

What’s the Big Deal?
With this permit, limousine transport companies and car rental firms can team up like never before, offering customers the chance to rent high-end rides with chauffeurs for up to one month. That means effortless access to elite, chauffeur-driven experiences—all under RTA’s top-tier regulations.

The Rules of the Road

UAE  motorist alert: Major parking fee, peak-hour rate changes coming in April

Published

on

Dubai motorists will soon experience significant changes to parking fees across the city as a new dynamic pricing system takes effect in April. Whether commuting to work or attending a major event, drivers must prepare for varying charges that could impact their daily travel expenses.

Here’s a breakdown of the upcoming adjustments and what they mean for motorists:

New Variable Parking Rates

Starting early April, Parkin, Dubai’s parking management company, has announced a shift to a time-based tariff system for premium parking spots in all public zones. The key change: Peak-hour parking will cost Dh6 per hour.

Peak Hours Mean Higher Costs

Drivers parking during busy times should expect increased charges:

  • 8 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm – Premium parking will be charged at Dh6 per hour.
  • Full-day parking rates in designated zones will also see a rise:
    • Zone B: Dh40 per day
    • Zone D: Dh30 per day

Higher Fees for High-Demand Locations

Parkin will also implement special rates for areas hosting major events or conferences. If you plan to park in these zones, expect to pay up to Dh25 per hour.

Impact on Drivers

The introduction of variable pricing means parking costs will depend on when and where you park. Peak-hour charges aim to reduce congestion and encourage off-peak travel. For those who frequently drive during rush hours, adjusting schedules or exploring alternative transportation options could help save money.

A Citywide Shift in Traffic Management

The parking fee update isn’t the only change coming to Dubai’s roads. Parkin’s sister company, Salik, has also rolled out dynamic toll gate pricing, adjusting rates based on traffic flow during peak and off-peak hours. This coordinated effort aims to create a seamless system to manage demand and improve traffic movement across the city.

Plan Ahead and Stay Informed

Dubai’s parking and toll systems are becoming increasingly time-sensitive. Drivers should stay updated on peak pricing schedules and plan accordingly to avoid unexpected costs. As April approaches, keeping an eye on the clock and your parking choices will be more important than ever.

Traffic jams? Not in Dubai: Soon AI-powered signals to slash delays on roads

Published

on

Dubai is about to level up its roads with next-gen AI-powered traffic signals, designed to slash congestion and make your commute smoother than ever.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has kicked off work on its futuristic UTC-UX Fusion system, which will bring artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and digital twin technology to major intersections across the city.

And the best part? The upgrade is expected to be fully rolled out by mid-2026.

RTA is going all-in on smart tech to keep Dubai’s streets moving, promising faster travel times, fewer jams, and priority lanes for emergency vehicles and public transport.

Smarter and faster traffic flow

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, says the AI-powered system will cut intersection delays by up to 20 per cent, making life easier for everyone – from daily commuters to cyclists and pedestrians.

Here’s what you can expect from Dubai’s futuristic traffic lights:

  • Predictive AI: The system will anticipate traffic movements and adjust signals in real time.
  • Digital Twin Tech: Dubai’s roads will get a virtual twin to test signal changes before rolling them out.
  • Smart Car Communication: Future-ready signals will talk to smart vehicles, ensuring seamless traffic flow.

With AI calling the shots, Dubai’s roads are about to get faster, safer, and more efficient than ever before. Buckle up – the future of traffic is here.
