The UAE’s drug regulator has announced a voluntary and precautionary recall of a limited number of Nestle infant formula products over a potential toxin risk.
In a statement carried by the national news agency Wam, the Emirates Drug Establishment said the recall was conducted in coordination with Nestle and affects specific batches of NAN Comfort 1, NAN Optipro 1, NAN Supreme Pro 1, 2 and 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2 and 3, and Alfamino infant formula.
The authority stated that no illnesses or adverse events linked to the affected batches have been reported or confirmed to date. It emphasised that all other Nestle products remain safe for consumption.
The recalled batches have been quarantined in Nestle’s and distributors’ warehouses, while efforts continue to remove any remaining products from points of sale, including online retail platforms, in line with approved regulatory procedures.
The move follows Nestle’s announcement on Monday of a recall of specific batches of its SMA infant and follow-on formula due to the potential presence of cereulide toxin, which can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.
