Kuwait is preparing to make cricketing history this September with the launch of its inaugural DP World ILT20 Development Tournament, taking place at the scenic Sulaibiya Cricket Ground.

The milestone event, hosted by the Kuwait Cricket Board (KCB), is designed to spotlight and elevate the country’s top cricketing talent, offering a direct pathway into the prestigious DP World International League T20 (ILT20), set to return to Dubai this December 2025.

With the ILT20 drawing some of the world’s top international players and commanding global viewership, this development tournament in Kuwait marks a career-defining opportunity for local athletes to break into the elite world of franchise cricket.

Featuring four highly competitive teams, Boubyan Warriors, Failaika Guardians, Pearl Strikers, and Kuwait Falcons, the tournament will bring together 60 handpicked players, including 19 national team cricketers, 10 emerging juniors, and a dynamic pool of domestic talent selected through the High Performance Committee based on key performance indicators.

A total of 14 action-packed matches are scheduled, ensuring each player has the chance to make their mark and potentially attract interest from international scouts and franchise teams.

The tournament build-up kicks off tomorrow with the official announcement of the player draft list on KCB’s social media platforms. On August 7, team head coaches, captains, and managers will be revealed, ahead of the official draft on August 8 at the Sulaibiya Cricket Ground, where each team will select a 15-member squad.

Far more than just a local league, the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament, Kuwait represents a bold new chapter for cricket in the region, a celebration of talent, ambition, and the growing stature of the Gulf on the international cricketing stage.

Dubai Metro stations get wayfinding upgrade to make commuting smoother

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Keolis–MHI, has completed a major overhaul of wayfinding signage across all Dubai Metro stations, aiming to make daily journeys simpler and more intuitive for millions of commuters.

The initiative covers both the Red and Green lines and includes the installation and replacement of nearly 9,000 signs, a project that required more than 11,000 work hours. From clearer platform indicators to improved exit signs, the changes are designed to streamline movement within stations and help passengers reach their destinations faster.

Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency, said the upgrades were part of RTA’s ongoing strategy to enhance public transport services. “The plan was designed to modernise signage, improve passenger flow, and make commuting easier and more seamless,” he explained.

Among the highlights:

  • Brighter exit signs: Station exits are now marked with bold yellow boxes for better visibility.
  • Floor stickers & platform guides: These direct commuters towards the correct train lines, easing congestion during peak hours.
  • Cabin-specific markers: Prominent pink and gold boards have replaced older floor markings, making it clearer where Women & Children and Gold Class cabins are located.
  • Etiquette reminders: Stickers across stations now encourage passengers to follow proper transport etiquette, fostering a more comfortable travel environment.

To ensure consistency, updates were also integrated across RTA’s digital platforms, including mobile apps, train and platform announcements, and social media channels.

The enhancements are part of RTA’s wider commitment to making the Dubai Metro not only a backbone of urban mobility but also a commuter experience that is smooth, efficient, and world-class.
