The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has launched a new initiative that will automatically renew passports and Emirates ID cards for senior citizens and people of determination enrolled in the social support programme, with no applications, paperwork or visits required.
Called the Taqdeer Package, the initiative has been developed in partnership with the Ministry of Community Empowerment and falls under the second cycle of the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to simplify public services and remove unnecessary steps.
Under the scheme, ICP will proactively track the expiry dates of passports and Emirates IDs for eligible beneficiaries. Once a document nears expiration, it will be renewed automatically, printed and delivered to the individual’s home before the current document expires.
The entire process is fully digital and requires zero action from beneficiaries. Once the renewal is completed, the individual will be notified, and an authorised ICP representative will deliver the new passport and Emirates ID directly to their residence.
In a statement, the authority said the initiative reflects its appreciation for senior citizens and people of determination, recognising their lifelong contributions to society. It also aligns with the UAE’s designation of 2025 as the Year of the Community, reinforcing values of care, dignity and inclusion.
As a result of the initiative, the number of steps required to renew documents for this group has been reduced from three to zero, offering what the authority described as a more humane, seamless and respectful service experience.
