Dubai motorists are being urged to stay alert after Parkin warned customers about fraudsters posing as the company.

In a message shared on social media, Parkin said official communications are only sent from the short code 7275, and any messages or links claiming to be from the company outside of this should be treated with caution.

The parking operator advised customers not to engage with suspicious messages or click on unverified links, stressing that confirmation should always be done through the official Parkin app or parkin.ae.

Parkin manages around 207,000 paid parking spaces across Dubai, offering a fully digitised parking experience with multiple digital payment options and smart parking systems. The company recently upgraded its app to integrate multiple permit services into one platform, making it easier for users to manage parking access.

Looking ahead, Parkin is set to introduce paid parking in International City next month, further expanding its services across the emirate.

The company also reminded motorists that certain groups remain exempt from parking fees, including Emirati residents, senior Emiratis, and People of Determination.

Parents across the UAE are being advised to check their baby formula after the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) confirmed that Nestle S26 AR has now been added to a voluntary and precautionary recall.

The product is intended for use only under medical supervision, and the recall applies to specific batches after traces of the bacterium Bacillus cereus were detected in a production input. While no widespread illness has been reported, the move is part of proactive steps to protect public health.

According to the EDE, Bacillus cereus can produce a toxin that may cause gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, particularly in vulnerable groups such as infants.

Working closely with Nestlé, authorities have already secured affected batches from distributor warehouses, with ongoing efforts to remove any remaining products from retail shelves and e-commerce platforms nationwide.

To make things easier for parents, Nestle MENA has launched digital tools allowing consumers in the UAE to:

• Check whether their product is affected
• Request a refund or replacement quickly and easily

The EDE urged consumers to rely on official sources for updates and reassured the public that the recall is precautionary and aligned with national safety protocols.

If you’ve ever tried squeezing into the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station during New Year’s Eve or a long weekend, you’ll know the struggle. The good news? Relief is officially on the way.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is giving one of the city’s busiest metro stations a serious expansion, boosting passenger capacity by a massive 65 per cent. Once complete, the station will be able to handle up to 12,320 passengers an hour, compared to the current 7,250, and as many as 220,000 passengers a day.

The move comes as passenger demand continues to surge, especially during major events, holidays and celebrations. Just to put things into perspective, during New Year’s Eve 2026 alone, the Dubai Metro carried over 1.24 million passengers across its Red and Green Lines, with Downtown Dubai stations taking the biggest hit.

So what’s changing? 

The station’s total area will expand from 6,700 to 8,500 square metres, with wider concourses, larger platforms, more escalators and lifts, and additional fare gates. Entry and exit gates will also be separated to keep foot traffic flowing smoothly, a small change that should make a big difference during peak hours.

Pedestrian bridges and station entrances are being upgraded too, along with better integration with other transport options. There’ll even be expanded commercial spaces, making the station feel less like a bottleneck and more like a proper transit hub.

With passenger numbers climbing past 10.5 million in 2024 and showing no signs of slowing down, this upgrade couldn’t come at a better time. Fewer queues, smoother movement, and less elbowing your way through crowds.
