The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in coordination with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), has shut down 77 social media accounts in the first half of 2025 for violating labour and licensing regulations.
Investigations revealed that the accounts were operating without official licences and were involved in the unauthorised recruitment of domestic workers, a serious breach of UAE law.
Public Alert on Illegal Recruiters
MoHRE is urging all Emiratis and resident families to avoid dealing with unverified social media platforms offering domestic worker recruitment services.
“Engaging with unlicensed recruitment agencies or unofficial social media pages can result in the loss of legal rights,” the Ministry said in an official statement. “Only licensed agencies approved by the Ministry guarantee protection and transparency for employers and workers alike.”
How to Verify an Agency
Residents are encouraged to verify the credibility of any recruitment agency they encounter online. The Ministry has provided a dedicated call centre (600590000) for inquiries and complaints.
A complete list of licensed agencies, along with their names and locations across the UAE, can be found on the Ministry’s official website: www.mohre.gov.ae.
Background
The crackdown comes as part of the UAE’s broader efforts to regulate domestic worker recruitment, ensure fair treatment, and protect both employers and workers from exploitation or fraud.
