The UAE has issued a stern warning to social media users, urging them to uphold national values and avoid content that disrespects the country, and principles of respect, tolerance, and coexistence. Violators risk facing legal consequences.
In a strong statement, the National Media Office (NMO) reminded residents that the country’s strict digital laws prohibit insults, hate speech, or the spread of misinformation. Authorities have vowed to take action against offenders to maintain a safe and respectful online environment.
Officials stressed that Emiratis are ambassadors of their nation, echoing the words of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan: “Every action you take, positive or negative, reflects your Emirati identity. We are all responsible for shaping the reputation of this country, as each of us is a guardian of its honour and standing.”
Social media users were also urged to follow the principles set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which call for respectful and positive engagement online — steering clear of profanity, insults, or divisive content.
The NMO has encouraged the public to report any offensive material through official channels, warning that those who break the rules will be held accountable under UAE law.
