The countdown is on! With just 100 days to go, the UAE is gearing up to host the grand finale of the DP World Tour season, and all eyes are on Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where the world’s top golfers will go head-to-head for glory.
From November 6 to 9, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship returns to Yas Links, kicking off the DP World Tour Playoffs with a landmark 20th anniversary edition. It’s the first of two mega events and will feature the top 70 players battling it out under the Abu Dhabi sun.
Then, from November 13 to 16, the golfing spotlight shifts to Dubai, where the DP World Tour Championship takes over the iconic Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Only the top 50 players will make it here, and they’ll be chasing the coveted Race to Dubai Champion title, which Rory McIlroy clinched for a record-breaking sixth time in 2024.
And yes, Rory’s coming back. The four-time major winner has already confirmed his spot at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, promising a star-studded showdown right from the opening tee-off.
UAE: The global stage for golf
With both playoff events taking place in the UAE, the nation is once again proving it’s not just a destination for sunshine and skyscrapers, it’s a true global sporting powerhouse.
“Hosting the championship on Yas Island enhances Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global sporting hub,” said Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. “We’re proud to celebrate 20 years of this iconic tournament.”
Meanwhile, Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, described the DP World Tour Championship as “one of the most prominent global sporting events hosted annually in Dubai.”
Why it matters:
- Two back-to-back blockbuster tournaments
- Featuring the world’s top 70 players in Abu Dhabi, then the top 50 in Dubai
- Record prize money, massive fan experiences, and world-class entertainment
- Star power: Rory McIlroy leads the pack, with more top names to be confirmed
Whether you’re a hardcore golf fan or just love a world-class sporting spectacle, November in the UAE is shaping up to be a hole-in-one.
