Abu Dhabi has expanded its robotaxi service to Khalifa City, Masdar City and Rabdan, as demand grows for smart mobility solutions and more sustainable transport options across the emirate.
Announcing the expansion, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) said the move supports Abu Dhabi’s long-term vision to improve transport network efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance overall quality of life.
New routes added across key landmarks
As part of the expansion, new robotaxi routes will also be introduced, connecting Abu Dhabi Corniche with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, making autonomous transport more accessible to residents and visitors.
The service is operated commercially by WeRide and Uber, in collaboration with local operator Tawasul Transport.
Strong growth since launch
Since launching in 2021, driverless taxis have been deployed across major areas, including Yas Island, Al Saadiyat Island, Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, and Zayed International Airport.
According to the ITC, the robotaxi service recorded nearly 150 per cent growth in trips during 2025, while maintaining a 99.9 per cent safety rate, highlighting strong public adoption and system reliability.
