Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the temporary closure of 63rd Street in both directions near the German International School Dubai, as part of the ongoing construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
Despite the closure, access to the school remains open through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street, with alternative entry and exit points arranged to minimise disruption for students, parents, and staff.
Traffic changes in Mirdif
The RTA also confirmed traffic diversions in Mirdif, where Metro construction activity continues. The roundabout at the intersection of 5th and 8th Streets, near City Centre Mirdif, has been closed.
Under the new traffic plan:
- Vehicles are now being rerouted from 5th to 8th Street toward the mall.
- Reverse traffic will be directed toward Algeria Street.
Dubai Metro Blue Line set for 2029 opening
The road diversions are part of Dubai’s ambitious infrastructure development linked to the Dubai Metro Blue Line, which will add key transit connectivity across the city. The new metro line is expected to be operational by 2029.
Motorists are advised to follow traffic signs and RTA updates to ensure a smooth commute during the construction period.
