Dubai is taking artificial intelligence (AI) to the next level. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has just launched a groundbreaking plan to become the world’s first AI-powered utility.
CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer made the big announcement during GenAI Week, an event packed with top experts from Microsoft, IBM, ServiceNow, and DataRobot—all there to talk about how AI is shaking up the energy industry.
What does this mean for Dubai?
DEWA is rolling out AI across all its operations—from power generation to billing and customer service. The goal? Faster, smarter, and more efficient services for everyone in Dubai!
For four days, tech leaders and AI specialists gathered at DEWA’s headquarters, brainstorming how AI can boost efficiency, cut costs, and improve decision-making. They also explored deep learning, AI-powered automation, and other cutting-edge tech.
A Vision for the Future
Al Tayer says this ambitious plan follows the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, who wants the country to be a global AI powerhouse.
“We’re leading the way with AI to transform the energy and water sectors,” Al Tayer said. “This isn’t just about improving services, it’s about shaping the future.”
AI-Powered Upgrades Already in Action
DEWA is already using AI in its Rammas at Work system, which streamlines everything from power and water distribution to HR and legal affairs. Plus, it has upgraded its Khadamatech e-services portal, making IT support, security, and compliance smarter than ever.
Investing in People
DEWA isn’t just upgrading technology—it’s training its employees to be AI experts. By partnering with global tech giants, the company is making sure its workforce stays ahead in the fast-moving world of AI and automation.
