Into art, fitness, or yachting? New Dubai platform helps you find your people

Dubai just got a whole lot more connected. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has launched ‘MyDubai Communities’— a brand-new online platform that brings residents, citizens, and visitors together through shared interests, hobbies, and community events.

Think of it as a one-stop shop to find your people in Dubai, whether you’re into art, fitness, tech, reading, or even yachting.

With nearly 200 nationalities calling Dubai home, this platform makes it easier than ever to meet others who share your passions, from sports and wellness to culture, business, and beyond.

How to connect to communities

  • Visit mydubaicommunities.com or follow @mydubaicommunities on Instagram & TikTok
  • Launches with over 100 interest-based groups
  • Features events like car meets, book clubs, running groups, art workshops & more
  • Simple and user-friendly design — join or list a community in under five minutes

“A city’s success isn’t just about tall buildings; it’s about strong community bonds,” Sheikh Hamdan said, highlighting that this platform is part of Dubai’s bigger social vision to boost happiness, well-being, and belonging across the emirate.

The platform builds on the original #MyDubai campaign from 2014, which captured everyday moments of life in the city and turned them into a global love letter to Dubai.

Now, in 2025, the UAE’s Year of Community, the city is doubling down on that spirit by giving people a space to connect both online and offline.

Whether you’re new to town, born and raised, or just passing through, MyDubai Communities helps you plug into the real Dubai, its people, its passions, and its pulse.

Helal Almarri from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism says this move is “key to making Dubai one of the top three cities in the world to live.”

So go ahead, explore, join, or start a community that reflects you. After all, there’s more to Dubai than just its skyline.

According to GMR officials, the threat email landed in the airport’s customer support inbox around 7.30am on December 5. Despite the alert, the flight continued under strict monitoring and landed safely at 8.30am.

Once on the ground, the aircraft was immediately moved to an isolated bay. Passengers were safely deboarded, and security te

Emirates confirmed the incident in a statement to local media, saying authorities had alerted them to a “potential security threat” to EK526.
“All standard security procedures were implemented by the relevant local authorities with full co-operation from Emirates’ ground teams,” the airline said, adding that “the safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain the highest priority.”

Authorities say all threats are being investigated, and extra security measures remain in place at the airport.

If your car is still sporting National Day decals, it’s time to take them off. Sharjah Police have announced that all vehicle owners must remove their UAE National Day celebration stickers by Saturday, December 6, and those who miss the deadline will face violations.

The reminder follows a crackdown during the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, where authorities impounded 106 vehicles and nine motorbikes for dangerous and irresponsible behaviour on the roads.

According to Sharjah Police, the violations included:

  • Creating loud noise and disturbing residents
  • Driving recklessly and endangering others
  • Operating vehicles without a valid licence

Police officials urged motorists to celebrate responsibly and avoid turning festivities into safety risks.

However, there has been a shift in decorating trends this year. Many residents opted for cleaner, simpler, more elegant designs to showcase their UAE pride ahead of the long weekend, and demand for custom decals surged.

Authorities are now urging residents to ensure all celebratory stickers and decorations are removed by the set deadline to keep roads safe and avoid penalties.
