Dubai’s hotspot, The Dubai Mall, turned into a sea of red last Thursday. Fans from all around gathered to witness Shah Rukh Khan unveil the trailer of his new movie, Jawan, which hits the UAE theatres on 7th September.
After building up the excitement on social media, people wore red in support of Khan’s company, Red Chillies Entertainment, as they eagerly awaited the trailer projected onto the iconic Burj Khalifa.
Shah Rukh Khan, dressed to impress in a shiny red jacket, made a grand entrance. Before revealing the trailer, the crowd enjoyed a live performance of the movie’s main song, “Chaleya” sung in Hindi and Arabic, with Moroccan artists Grini and Jamila adding their voices.
Khan spoke to the excited crowd, saying that the movie has all the elements of a Bollywood hit.
“The movie is about two hours and 45 minutes long, and it’s got action, comedy, romance, and humor,” he said. “It’s also about helping those less fortunate. I think anyone can enjoy this film.”
Jawan is Shah Rukh Khan’s second movie this year, following the blockbuster Pathaan. In this one, he teams up with South India’s star, Nayanthara. Although the trailer doesn’t spill all the plot details, it appears Khan plays two roles – a tough criminal and a determined cop. Vijay Sethupathi plays Kalee, a notorious arms dealer. The film also features other well-known actors like Sanya Malhotra and Sunil Grover from Bollywood. And, Deepika Padukone, Khan’s co-star in Pathaan, makes a cameo appearance.
The film is noteworthy because it’s the first Hindi movie directed by Indian director Atlee, known for Tamil hits like “Mersal” and “Bigil.”
“I’m really proud to work with Atlee, who did a fantastic job,” Khan said.
This event follows another big Bollywood launch in Dubai, cementing the city’s reputation as a hub for stunning movie premieres and entertainment extravaganzas.
