The Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) have successfully intercepted 1.5 tonnes of heroin, in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs in Abu Dhabi.
The Anti-Drug Section at the ADP’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detected a suspicious shipment that arrived from a neighbouring country at Khalifa Port, meant to travel to a European country, Major General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of the ADP, said.
The police intercepted this smuggling operation, seizing a heroin shipment worth some Dh150 million.
He also pointed out that addressing the smuggling of narcotics, which destroys societies, requires the cooperation of security departments, to address the advanced methods used to smuggle narcotics, amidst recent technological developments.

The ADP is keen to achieve the strategic objectives of the UAE’s leadership in maintaining the safety and security of the community, Major General Al Mazrouei said. The joint operation was in implementation of the objectives of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ADP and the General Administration of Customs in Abu Dhabi.

He thanked everyone who contributed to the operation and urged security personnel to exert further efforts to serve the country.
