Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is giving the city’s roads a fresh look, and drivers can expect clearer markings, safer streets, and smoother driving experiences in the months ahead.
As part of its 2025 Preventive Maintenance Programme, the RTA is rolling out a major project to renew road markings at 89 locations across Dubai. The effort covers highways, busy intersections, and residential neighbourhoods, reinforcing the city’s commitment to safety and quality on the roads.
Where You’ll See the Changes
The initiative includes re-striping on 50 major roads, such as:
- Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street
- First Al Khail Road
- 2nd December Street
- Al Khawaneej Street
- Amman Street
- Zabeel Street
- Al Manama Street
And in 39 residential areas, including:
- Al Awir
- Umm Hurair
- Oud Al Muteena
- Al Twar
- Al Barsha
- Al Sufouh
- Al Qusais Industrial Area
What’s Being Upgraded
- Repainting red zones in speed reduction areas to alert drivers
- Refreshed box junctions for better traffic flow at key intersections
- Updated markings for speed bumps and paid parking zones
According to Abdulla Ali Lootah, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance, RTA aims to repaint over 30,000 linear metres of markings using durable materials and advanced technology, ensuring long-lasting visibility and minimal disruption.
“This upgrade is a key part of enhancing traffic safety and keeping Dubai’s road network world-class,” he said.
Al Thanya Street Gets a Traffic Flow Upgrade
In another move to ease congestion, RTA is also redesigning Al Thanya Street by:
- Replacing the roundabout with direct road connections
- Improving U-turn access from Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road
These changes are expected to make entering and exiting Al Thanya Street faster and more direct, reducing traffic buildup in the area.
